In early spring of 2011, The Living Seed Company sprouted out into the world. Coming out of a county that has had a deep-rooted history in agriculture, it’s no wonder that such a company would be right at home among its people.
Remarkably, The Living Seed Company is the only vegetable seed company in this food-centric county. With a heritage in farming, rich soil and open waters, Marin became known as the “butter capital.” Over the decades Marin continued to be a cornerstone in providing some of the best dairy and seafood, today it is also well-known for having propelled the organic food movement. In November of 2005, The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall visited the farmers market in Point Reyes, focusing a global light on the work of Marin Organic and several other Marin Based organizations working to promote and protect sustainable agriculture.
Today, Marin is a GMO-Free county and home to dozens of organic farms, MALT (Marin Agricultural Land Trust), Indian Valley an organic farm on the community college campus, The Regenerative Design Institute, Green Gulch Farm, hosts of farmers markets and now The Living Seed Company!
